Ol' Ralphie's Lures was established in 2004 by Greg Hays. Greg started carving in 1994. Greg is a self taught carver, although he picked up a few pointers from friends in his Tannehill Woodcarving Club he joined a few years later and, of course , from the many books that he purchased over the years. Carving caricatures was one of his favorite things to carve, he also carved on hiking sticks and walking canes.

In 2004 Greg decided to try his hand at lure carving. Greg Found

that carving lures was the most exciting experience. Lure carving

is very challenging. Greg spent many hours experimenting with

different techniques and designs and has perfected lures that he

designed himself.

Greg loved this hobby so much that he decided to write a book,

"Basic Fishing Lure Carving." This book gives step by step

directions that will take you from a block of wood to a finished

lure. Each step is illustrated with a photograph to help you along

the way. Greg developed tools that make the carving of lures

easier. He shares these jigs and rigs in the book that will help you

in your lure building.
